Pharmaceutical - Spray Drying Processes Advanced

Reading Guide

Spray-drying is a well-known technique to produce fine particles in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Gas-solids cyclones are the preferred method of collection of these particles, due to optimum aseptic conditions as compared to other devices, such as bag-filters. A presentation on this topic is available with the materials listed below. This presentation was given as part of the course “Spray Drying and Atomization of Formulations”, 13 April 2016, University of Leeds, England. The slides highlight the main developments in the optimized design of gas-solids cyclones, taking into account particle-particle interaction in the cyclone turbulent flow-field (Paiva, 2010).
